Лишняя тяжесть: номинализация и повтор без потери смысла
Тяжесть текста — не длина, а слова, которые не несут нагрузки (load). Источники: номинализация (the implementation of the plan → we implemented the plan: вернуть глагол и деятеля), слабые глаголы (make a decision → decide; have an effect on → affect), пустые начала (there is a need for → we need; it is clear that → clearly), избыточность (past history, future plans, end result, completely finished), дублеты (each and every; first and foremost), вода (in order to → to; due to the fact that → because; at this point in time → now) и случайный повтор слова в двух соседних фразах. Правило: ужать на треть, не потеряв ни факта — и не трогать намеренный повтор (ритм, параллелизм, связка this + noun).

Нюансы
- nominalisation — не враг: академический стиль ею живёт (тема 58); враг — номинализация, за которой прячется деятель.
- doublets — наследие юридического английского (null and void, cease and desist); в речи ради ритма — допустимы.
- «Ужать на треть» — упражнение, не закон: цель — убрать слова без нагрузки, сколько бы их ни было.
- verb-driven — совет для повествования и объяснения; для определений и терминов — именной стиль.
- Проверка после ужатия: те же факты, те же оговорки (тема 62)? Ужимать оговорки нельзя.
