Оборот без ясного субъекта: висячие и смещённые обороты
Висячий оборот (dangling modifier) — причастный или инфинитивный оборот, чей подразумеваемый субъект не совпадает с подлежащим главного предложения: «Having read the report, the conclusion is clear» — читал не вывод. Правка: (1) сделать подлежащим деятеля (Having read the report, I find the conclusion clear); (2) перестроить с личным глаголом (When I had read the report, …); (3) дать обороту свой субъект — абсолютный оборот (The survey having been completed, work began). Смещённое определение (misplaced: nearly, only, almost — не рядом с тем, к чему относятся) и двусмысленно стоящее (squinting: между двумя кандидатами) — переставить. Не висячие: вводные наречия (frankly, hopefully, generally speaking) и застывшие обороты (considering, given, regarding).

вопрос
1
Оборот в начале фразы? Кто в нём действует?
2
Подлежащее главной части — тот же деятель?
3
Нет → сменить подлежащее, развернуть в придаточное или переставить оборот к своему слову.
Ошибки новичков: Being a Sunday, the shop was closed → As it was a Sunday, …; only и almost не на своём месте; считать все висячие обороты ошибкой (устойчивые вводные допустимы).
Нюансы
Hopefully как вводное — давняя война пуристов; в современном письме допустимо, на экзамене безопаснее «I hope».
Висячий оборот в пассивной научной прозе — норма жанра («Using a survey, data were collected»), но в C2-письме — перестроить.
Смещённое only — самая частая правка редактора (тема 62); в речи спасает ударение, в письме — место.
Комичность висячего оборота — сигнал: если фраза смешна не по замыслу, ищите оборот.
Абсолютный оборот — формальный; в речи заменяют придаточным (after the survey was completed).
push_pindangling modifier: подразумеваемый субъект оборота ≠ подлежащее главного; правка — attach (сменить подлежащее на agent), recast (When I had read …), absolute construction (the survey having been completed); misplaced (nearly, only — переставить), squinting (между двумя — перестроить); не ошибка: sentence adverbs, considering / given, absolute

«Having read the report, the conclusion is clear» — a dangling modifier: the conclusion did not read; attach the participle to the person who acts.«Прочитав отчёт, вывод ясен» — висячий оборот: вывод не читал; присоедините причастие к тому, кто действует.
«She nearly lost all her savings» is misplaced: she lost nearly all.«Она чуть не потеряла все сбережения» — смещено: потеряла почти все.
«Meeting often improves trust» — often meets or often improves? A squinting modifier: recast it.«Встречи часто улучшают доверие» — часто встречаться или часто улучшают? Двусмысленно стоящее определение: перестройте.
Name the agent of the participle; the implied subject of «having read» must be the subject of the main clause.Назовите деятеля причастия; подразумеваемый субъект «having read» должен быть подлежащим главного предложения.
An absolute construction has its own subject: «the survey having been completed, work began».У абсолютного оборота свой субъект: «the survey having been completed, work began».
«Frankly» and «hopefully» are sentence adverbs, not dangling; «considering the cost» is a fixed phrase.«Frankly» и «hopefully» — вводные наречия, не висячие; «considering the cost» — застывший оборот.
A dangling modifier is often comic: «Walking to the bridge, the river looked high.»Висячий оборот часто комичен: «Идя к мосту, река выглядела высокой».
