Черновик пишут насквозь, по плану, не полируя. Два правила содержания. Атрибуция: каждое заимствованное утверждение несёт источник (according to the membership system; the survey finds; the manager's view is — с пометкой «interested»); the data show X — и только X (acceleration, not cause). Свой вывод — отдельно и помечен: I conclude; on balance; my reading is (тема 77). Оговорки едут с утверждениями (тема 79). Рекомендация — с расчётом стоимости и правилом остановки, потому что критерий успеха этого требует (урок 1). Резюме — в последнюю очередь.

| The fall accelerated after the evening cut. According to the monthly series, adult membership fell 4 % in the six months to September 2023 and 11 % in the six months after — the cut took effect on 18 September. The data show timing; on their own they do not show cause. Two further tests point the same way: evening borrowers (Tuesday and Thursday, 5–8 pm, in the year before the cut) lapsed at two and a half times the daytime rate, and the comparison branch, which kept its evenings, fell 15 % over the five years against our 34 %. The manager's view — that the cut «did it» — is consistent with all three; she is an interested party, and I have weighed her account as one source among four. On balance I conclude, with moderate confidence, that the cut is the main local cause of the fall beyond the national trend. |

Нюансы
- the data show — с ограничением сразу («they do not by themselves show cause»), иначе читатель дорисует.
- «I» в отчёте — только в выводах и рекомендации; в изложении фактов — источник.
- Заинтересованность источника называют один раз и взвешивают, не повторяют как упрёк.
- Черновик насквозь: остановка на полировке абзаца 2 — самая частая причина незаконченных проектов.
- Оговорки в черновике пишутся полностью; сокращать — на редактуре (тема 79).
