Карта источников: что говорит каждый, на каком основании, когда и с каким интересом
Прежде чем сравнивать источники, каждый описывают по одной схеме: что утверждает (claim), на каком основании (basis: опрос, испытание, мнение, расчёт), что охватывает (cover / scope), когда (date), из чьих рук (first-hand / second-hand, primary / secondary) и чей интерес (vested interest). Сведённая в таблицу (tabulate) карта показывает пробелы (gaps) — то, о чём не говорит никто, — и заранее предупреждает, где источники несопоставимы (урок 3).

Ошибки новичков: The source says about → The source says that / deals with; based in → based on; the interest of the council is to show → the council has an interest in showing; путать «нет данных» и «данные против».
Нюансы
- basis — единственное; bases /ˈbeɪsiːz/ — множественное.
- vested interest — не обвинение: источник с интересом может быть верным; но его надо проверять другим.
- first-hand (свидетель) ≠ primary (исходные данные); интервью — first-hand, но не primary data.
- Датировать — обязательно: опрос 2019 года до отмены автобуса описывает другой город.
- Пробел (gap) — не недостаток проекта, а его честная граница; назовите его в ограничениях (урок 5).
