Согласие и противоречие: сравнивать на одной основе
Два источника «противоречат», пока не проверено, что они измеряют одно и то же одинаково: за один период, в одних единицах, на одной выборке (like for like, on the same basis). Недельная цифра против месячной — apples and oranges; сначала пересчитать (convert), потом сравнивать. Тогда видно: подтверждают (corroborate), противоречат (contradict) или расходятся объяснимо (the discrepancy is explained by …; can be reconciled once …).

Ошибки новичков: The sources contradict без проверки основы; compare with the same basis → compare like with like; in absolute numbers → in absolute terms; 40 % less accidents → 40 % fewer accidents.
Нюансы
- like for like — из розницы (like-for-like sales): без дефисов как наречие, с дефисами как прилагательное.
- corroborate — независимое подтверждение; два пересказа одного опроса не corroborate друг друга.
- reconcile — совместить версии; после него обычно «once» / «when» с условием.
- net of — за вычетом; gross — до вычета. Скажите, какую основу берёте, один раз.
- Не усредняйте несопоставимое; сообщите обе цифры с основами.
